The first priority of any government is to get reelected.

The obvious reason taxes are so high is that too many people are being carried by taxpayers. Even though they have never worked or paid taxes.

There are the so-called asylum seekers, who find ways to stay in the UK at the taxpayers expense helped by lawyers paid for by UK taxpayers. They are placed in hotels, while British homeless sleep rough on the streets. They are given money to buy food, medical care and free education. Even if they eventually find employment they will never pay enough in taxes to cover the benefits they will continue to receive.

Then there are the home grown layabouts whose “profession” is watching TV and stealing mobile phones. When they can receive more money by claiming they are depressed or anxious than they could in a deadend, boring job, why be surprised this is their lifestyle choice?

Understand that these people are consistent Labour supporters.

How to bribe them to keep voting Labour?

By taking money from those that have money and won’t vote for them anyway.

It’s not evil; just common sense for a government that has a sole aim of being reelected.
