For those who think they did nothing wrong:

The BBC deliberately splied together two parts of the same speech, said an hour apart, to twist its meaning.

Try this:

“I want to sell my Mercedes.”…….

much later.

“I am collecting for the Red Cross. I’d like any donations you can afford. I’ll even take 10p”

Per their reckoning:

“I want to sell my Mercedes. I’ll even take 10p” is OK.
